The ASK Campaign, Asking Saves Kids, encourages parents and others with children in their care to ask whether there is an unloaded gun in a home where children go to play or visit.
Each day in this country, 9 children are injured or killed in unintentional shootings. Some of this occur when a child has access to a loaded gun. Every gun that ends up in the hands of a child first goes through the hands of an adult.
The ASK campaign raises awareness about the importance of knowing that a child is visiting a gun-safe home, and provides suggestions about how to raise this issue in the context of a safety discussion.
All Saints will observe National ASK Day on Sunday, June 22nd by having information and pledge cards at the Action Tables.
Additional ways in which you can get involved:
1. June 22nd is the kick-off of a campaign that will be on-going. We would like to engage parishioners in reaching out to outreach to the community. If you have suggestions about places where these materials could be available and would be interested in offering these materials, please let the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force know by emailing Juliana Serrano, email@example.com.
Materials are available here.
2. We would welcome your help at the Action Table on Sunday, June 22nd, after any of the four services. If you would like to help, please contact Virginia Classick, firstname.lastname@example.org or 818-225-0410.
