Faith in Action: The Foster Care Project

On March 16th friends, supporters and community leaders gathered for the Family Connect Grand Opening Celebration at the Barrio Action Visitation Room in El Sereno … a cheery in a safe space designed specifically to help separated families reconnect and heal. All Saints Church Foster Care Project made this possible through a partnership with LA County DCFS.

From the Foster Care Project Newsletter: All three prior family visitation sites have been located in Pasadena. The current El Sereno site was inspired by Muzeyyen Balaban of Pasadena DCFS, who requested that the next site be located closer to where most of the referred families live—an important consideration, especially for families who rely upon the bus for transportation. Antonio Gallardo offered an opening prayer at the celebration and participants included ministry members and All Saints staffer Juliana Serrano.

All Saints Church Foster Care Project provides community education, public policy/advocacy and direct services for children and youth who have been removed from the care of their parents to the supervision of the state. The Project recruits and sustains volunteers who serve in public and private agencies or work on special projects designed to enhance the lives of foster, homeless, transitional and incarcerated children and youth.

Their extraordinary work is but one of the ways All Saints lives out its commitment to make God’s love tangible 24/7. For more on the work of the Foster Care Project visit their webpages.
