Community Posada

December 21

A Community Posada — organized by the Latino/Hispanic Ministry and the Immigration Task Force of All Saints Church — invites participants to join in a symbolic procession in the Pasadena civic center on Monday, December 21st.

A Spanish Christmas tradition that spread to Latin America and the U.S. Southwest, Las Posadas literally translates in English as “the inns” or “the lodgings.” Symbolizing the biblical journey of Mary and Joseph as they searched for shelter in Bethlehem, it also represents the  journey toward justice in the continuing struggle for compassionate and comprehensive immigration reform.

The All Saints Posada will include the traditional pilgrims’ procession along the singing and the participation of parish members, immigrant families, and community members. The traditional pilgrimage will depart from the church at 6:00 p.m. with the representation of the Holy Family requesting refuge — making symbolic stops at City Hall, the Pasadena Police Department and the Courthouse — to return to the Church and conclude the celebration with piñatas and traditional snacks.
