Conscientious Projector: The Nuclear Requiem

February 9 | 7:00 p.m. | Armory Center for the Arts

When Donald Trump reportedly asked during the presidential campaign, “If we have them [nuclear weapons], why can’t we use them,” he evoked disbelief and alarm among political opponents, national security professionals, other nations and the public at large. Then later, when questioned about whether his intention to expand America’s nuclear program would generate a new arms race with Russia, he replied, “Let it be an arms race,” prompting another wave of concern.

Going Local

January 31

“When they go low, we go local” was a rallying chant at the Pasadena Women’s Rally last Saturday. It is a good reminder that while we may sometimes feel overwhelmed in dealing with national issues, we can still make a great deal of difference at the local level. Affordable Housing is one of those issues that can have some local solutions.

Intersectional Resistance: Reproductive Justice

Sunday, January 22

Reconciliation is holy work. Resistance is too. When the agendas of the president-elect and the new Congress scapegoat people of color and Muslims, deprive our fellow citizens of control over their lives, desecrate God’s creation or enrich the wealthy at the expense of the poor, we must oppose them. This is not a partisan political statement; it is a confession of faith.”
— The Reverend Gay Clark Jennings, President of the House of Deputies

A Weekend of Prayer & Sacred Resistance

January 20-22, 2017

At All Saints Church we will enter this new era in our nation’s history with prayers for our country and a recommitment to sacred resistance. We will stand in resistance to the systemic evils that oppress and marginalize any member of our human family – including but not limited to racism, sexism, nativism, homophobia, anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. Grounded in our baptismal promises, our resistance to public policies that perpetuate those evils is how we put our faith into action in the world.

Stories from the Undocumented in Our Community

Sunday, January 8 | 10:15 a.m.

“You are my Own, chosen and marked by my love, delight of my life.” Words that sweep us off our feet. Words our hearts long to hear. Words of adoration and joy. This Sunday, we hear God saying these words to Jesus in his baptism and we realize these words from God are for us, too. Each of us. All of us. The voice of God’s Spirit reminds us that no matter how unworthy we might consider ourselves, God delights in us. The voice of God’s Spirit reminds us that no matter how rejected or persecuted a person is, God delights in them.
