Amy Brenneman and the Fight for Reproductive Justice

Sunday, November 27

On June 27, 2016, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a historic decision striking down a Texas law designed to shut down most of the state’s abortion clinics with medically unnecessary restrictions. The decision in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt reaffirmed a woman’s constitutional right to access legal abortion, and was called “one of the most significant abortion-related ruling from the Court in more than two decades.”  And All Saints’ own Amy Brenneman was right in the middle of that historic decision.

amicusBrenneman — actor, activist and long time All Saints member — was one of the signers of a friend of the court or amicus brief filed in support of Whole Women’s Health. Her stand up support for women’s reproductive justice led to a feature piece in the New York Times, a visit to the Whole Women’s Health Center in San Antonio, Texas and to the steps of the Supreme Court when oral arguments were heard in the landmark case. Honored by the Feminist Majority Foundation at their annual Global Womens’ Rights Awards for her activism she continues to be an inspirational leader in the ongoing struggle to protect women’s reproductive freedom.

On Sunday, November 27 Amy Brenneman will be our guest in the Rector’s Forum. Join us at 10:15 a.m. in the church as she shares her story.

If you can’t be with us in person, join us via live stream. For more information call 626.796.1172.
