#Black Lives Matter: The Documentary

presented by Conscientious Projector and COLORS

The Black Lives Matter movement is a truly modern civil rights movement. With no clear leader, the movement is harnessing the power of direct protest and social media to raise awareness of the plight of black communities. “We all bear the responsibility,”explains educator/activist Melina Abdullah. “Black Lives Matter is a rallying cry, to affirm that black people matter and to demand change.”

Telling the story of that movement is #BlackLivesMatter — a vivid, probing, documentary examination of the far-reaching grassroots response to police killings of African-Americans in cities across the United States and their grossly disproportionate imprisonment in an unjust criminal justice system.

Conscientious Projector and All Saints’ racial justice ministry COLORS join to screen the film on Thursday, August 11, 7:00 p.m. at All Saints Church (note change from our usual Armory Center for the Arts venue). A community discussion will follow with COLORS co-chair Edna Trigg.
