Pentecost is historically “The Birthday of the Church” and arguably the Feast Day of God’s Radical Inclusion.
The biblical account in the Acts of the Apostles (2:1) tells of a great wind sweeping through the room where the disciples have gathered and — thrust into liminal space by the sound of the wind — each of the disciples is alight with the fire of the spirit of God and begins to speak of God’s deeds of power in new ways. People who had gathered from every language and nation are able to understand this message. And the church is born as followers of Jesus went out into the world to proclaim the Good News of God’s love available to absolutely everybody.
At All Saints Church we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost with a party that includes cake, jazz and fellowship on the lawn. And this year we are delighted to welcome Gary Hall to the pulpit as our Pentecost Preacher at 7:30, 9:00 and 11:15 a.m.
Former ASC staff member and the recently retired Dean of the National Cathedral, Gary has returned home to Southern California and we could not be more thrilled to have him back with us at All Saints as one of our adjunct clergy.
So mark you calendars. Bring your friends. Don’t miss out on the Pentecost Party at All Saints Church.
