White Like Me: Race, Racism & White Privilege in America

Featuring Tim Wise

On Sunday, February 28 from 1:00 – 3:00pm COLORS (Christians Offering Live to Overcome Racism in Society) will present the film, White Like Me — featuring author and educator, Tim Wise. Released in 2013, the film got a rave review in Slate’s culture blog which called it ” an informative, convincing narrative tracing America’s fraught history with race.”

“I’ve been trying to better understand for myself and to raise awareness among others about the centrality of race and racism to the history of this country,” Wise says in the film, “and how dangerous and damaging it is when white people, like me, are blind to racial inequality and our own privileges.”

The film screening will be followed by a discussion facilitated by professor and diversity trainer, Dr. Claudia Owens Shields. Light refreshments will be served. Suggested donation is $5.

Don’t miss this opportunity to continue the conversation around Tim Wise’s January visit to All Saints. You can view his presentations on our YouTube Channel: the Rector’s Forum as well as Part One and Part Two of “Racism, Privilege & Denial: Healing White America’s Blind Spots.”
