Ed Bacon on Dan Siegel, visiting 12/1

What do the Dalai Lama, Irish poet John O’Donohue, and Sunday’s Rector’s Forum speaker Dr. Dan Siegel have in common? The answer – pioneering brain science.

Last summer in Ireland, I learned that before his death, poet John O’Donohue had been collaborating with neuroscientist Daniel Siegel on the beneficial effects of poetry on the brain. Then I learned that Siegel has been in conversations with the Dalai Lama about scientific proof of improved brain functioning through meditation. Through secular science Siegel is promoting many religious values. He makes some of the mysteries of the brain understandable – knowledge which is empowering!

I am delighted to invite you to join me with UCLA School of Medicine’s professor of clinical psychiatry, Dr. Dan Siegel, at 10:15 a.m. in the Rector’s Forum for a preview of his book: Brainstorm: The Power and Purpose of the Teenage Brain – exploring teenage brain science and “how brain development impacts teenagers’ behavior and relationships.”

Don’t miss this chance to learn from one of the most significant pioneers of brain and behavior science of our generation.
