Now that Congress is back in session, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) is poised to move to the Senate floor this fall. I hope you’ll join us in mobilizing an outpouring of support for this common-sense, national workplace protection law for our LGBT community.
This Tuesday, September 17th, a coalition of denominations and faith community organizations is hosting a Faiths Calling call-in-day to the US Senate to urge passage of ENDA. We will amplify our success as people of faith working for justice when we all band together and raise our voices as one. To that end, we are asking the following:
1. Please consider setting aside 10 minutes on Tuesday, September 17th to participate in the call-in day. We are encouraging folks to call both their Senators. There are resources attached and online to help you craft an appropriate advocacy ask to your constituency.
2. Also, please share these materials widely with likeminded allies in your denomination and help cement the faith community’s moral call for action in this debate.
3. Earlier this year, a similar coalition of denominations came together to create FaithsCalling, focusing their attention on Gun Violence Prevention legislation. Their effort generated more than 20,000 calls to Congress from people of all faiths! With your help, we can replicate this success and put the necessary pressure on the Senate to advance ENDA.
Pick up the phone and let your Senators know that you demand an end to workplace discrimination for LGBT employees.
